Fruita Monument High School Band was established in 1910 and there was a small band of about 20 students. Through the years, the Fruita Monument High School Music Program has grown not only in size, but in reputation as a high-quality student activity—exceeding participation rates from athletic teams and consistently ranking in the top 10 state competitions. Some would even say that the band program is the City of Fruita’s pride and joy—more so than the football team. Today, 8% (117) of the schools’ population participates in the band program.

CURRENT PROGRAMS: 

The Fruita Monument High School Music Program offers two Symphonic Bands, Wind Ensemble, Jazz I & II, Marching Band & Color Guard, Drumline, Percussion Ensemble.  Our philosophy is to provide outstanding performance ensembles that play relevant, exciting and educational music as well as provide public performance opportunities in our community and around the state of Colorado.

PHILOSOPHY: 

Fruita Monument High School Music Program is participation based. We strive to meet every student at their ability level and grow them from there. We evaluate their effort, attitude and participation—as each child brings a different set of abilities to the band hall. The building block for all bands is participation in the Symphonic Band where students learn to collaborate and create music in community.
